Blogmas 2019: Day Fifteen - Our Flat Christmas Day

Image
Happy Sunday, everyone! Sorry for missing yesterday’s Blogmas. I hadn’t prepared a post in advance for the day and it ended up being a super busy Saturday and then when I did have free time – I was too sick to write. But I’m trying not to beat myself up over it too much. Anyway, moving on to today’s Blogmas… For the past three Christmases that we’ve lived in our flat, my girlfriend, our best friend and myself always have our own ‘Christmas Day’ before we all go home for the holidays and today was that day. So, once we’d all woken up and had cups of tea/coffee, we gathered into the living room where we opened our stockings and exchanged presents. I got the Ohana Lilo and Stitch Traditions figurine, a book called ‘Forest of Shadows’ which I believe bridges between the two Frozen films, Olaf slipper boots, Olaf socks and Red Vines. I feel truly spoilt and blessed to have received such thoughtful presents especially considering these are all things I’ve wanted or have mentioned in pa

Blogmas 2019: Day Thirteen - Four Gifts To Buy Yourself At Christmas

One thing we all love to do at Christmas is giving. Whether that’s buying presents for your kids or a loved one or taking part in a Secret Santa – gift giving is a big thing in our society at Christmas time. But don’t forget that you deserve a gift at Christmas too – so here’s some ideas for what you can buy for yourself during December – that won’t cost you too much money. Fluffy Socks There’s something about receiving socks as a present when you’re an adult. You just appreciate them a whole lot more than you ever did as a child, and it’s even better when they’re fluffy socks and you can appreciate them even more when it’s particularly cold. They’re quite cheap as well so why not pop to Primark (they always have a great selection of fluffy socks and normal socks) and treat yourself to a pair of new socks to wear when you’re snuggled up on a Christmassy day. Pyjamas You can never have too many pyjamas, right? That’s my mentality anyway. Plus you can never go wrong with bu

Blogmas 2019: Day Twelve - Festive Bloggers Tag

In last year’s Blogmas, I did a Christmas tag and I really enjoyed it so I thought that I would do one again this year! What Is Your Favourite Christmas Movie? Oh, this is such a tough one. You guys know how much I love watching Christmas movies. However, if I had to pick, some of my favourites are: The Santa Clause films, The Holiday, Jack Frost, The Christmas Prince films and Home Alone. However, I pretty much love all Christmas films so being asked to pick is a hard question. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning? Always on Christmas morning. Once everyone wakes up early (thanks to me), we’ll go downstairs and sit by the tree and open presents. We were never allowed to open any on Christmas Eve and I don’t think I’d want to unless we had a specific Christmas Eve box – which is something I’d like to do with my future kids. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory? Some of my favourite Christmas memories involve decorating the tree with my m

Blogmas Day Eleven - Four Films On My Christmas Watch List

Can you believe there’s only fourteen days left until Christmas? I honestly don’t know where the time has gone. In an earlier Blogmas post, I shared four Netflix Original Christmas films that I have watched this month. For today’s post, I thought I would share four of the “classic” Christmas movies that are on my watch list. Jack Frost This movie honestly takes me back to my childhood. I remember it always used to be on TV on either Christmas Day or Boxing Day. It’s one of the rare films that everyone in my family loves so we make sure to watch it every year. After all, what’s better than a talking snowman at Christmas time? Home Alone Is it even Christmas if ‘Home Alone’ isn’t on your Christmas watch list? Whether you’re watching Kevin left at home over the holidays or him stranded in New York – nothing says Christmas more than curling up in front of one of the ‘Home Alone’ films and stuffing your face with chocolate through your laughter. The Holiday Obviously at

Blogmas 2019: Day Ten - Four Things To Do In London Over Christmas

December can be quite a busy and stressful month for people because of Christmas approaching so you can often find yourself under more pressure at this time of the year as opposed to other times. That’s why I think it’s important to make some time for you or for you and a loved one to enjoy the things around you that London has to offer during Christmas. On that note, I thought I would share just four things you can do at London during Christmas time to either get you in the festive spirit or to take your mind off the stress of the holidays. See a West End Show From ‘Mary Poppins’ to ‘& Juliet’ to ‘Mamma Mia’ to ‘The Woman In Black’, there’s something for everyone in London’s West End. If you know me, you’ll know how much I love the theatre and part of the reason I love it so much is because it gives me a few hours to switch off from the outside world and be transformed to another place. Theatre tickets also make a great Christmas present if you’re struggling to buy for som

Blogmas 2019: Day Nine - How I Keep My Mum's Memory Alive Over Christmas

In last year’s Blogmas, I talked about how I cope with grief over Christmas so I thought this year, I would expand on that a bit more and be more honest and open about how I keep my mum's memory alive during the season and what I do that's the same and that's different. For some people, celebrating Christmas is the last thing they want to even think about because of grief and other circumstances that are difficult – and that’s fair enough. Admittedly, the first two Christmases without my Mum I didn’t celebrate anything because, quite frankly, I didn’t see the point and I honestly just didn’t want to. However, after some time, I remembered how much my Mum loved the season and how much she would have wanted us to keep the celebrations alive still, even though she was no longer with us. Decorating Family Home Obviously, my flat is decorated before we even get to December because we love making home seem more magical with the addition of Christmas decorations and a

Blogmas 2019: Day Eight - Mini Reviews Of Five New Netflix Christmas Films

Image
If you guys have been reading all my Blogmas posts then you’ll know that Day One ’s post was all about five new Netflix Christmas films I wanted to watch this year. Well, I’m pleased to report back that in the space of that week I have managed to watch all five! We love that for me, don’t we? Anyway, I thought I would use today’s Blogmas post to share a few thoughts on each of the films mentioned in Blogmas Day One. The Knight Before Christmas Okay, remember how I said I would most likely ugly cry at this? I did. A lot. Sir Cole was the dreamiest Knight ever and his and Brooke’s relationship and the dynamic between the pair was everything. The film saw Sir Cole attempt to wrap his head around the modern world and it’s advanced technology as well as trying to discover and fulfil his one true quest, with the help of Brooke. This was the perfect kind of film for Christmas if you love romance movies and are inclined to shed a tear or two at the important message that it holds. I wo

Blogmas 2019 - Day Seven: Five Instagrammable Christmas Spots In London

Image
Happy Saturday and welcome to day seven on Blogmas! Can you believe it’s already been seven days of December? Time really is flying by. For today’s post, I thought I would share with you guys a few photographable Christmas themed spots in London. Tiffany & Co. Winter Wonderland and Ice Rink As if Covent Garden wasn’t already magical enough during Christmas time! This year, Covent Garden’s Piazza has been transformed into a Central Park inspired wintry spot. Sparkly snow, oversized blue boxes, a snow globe and a unique ice rink all adorn the Piazza and help to transform it into the most magical Christmas themed experience. Even if you don’t want to go ice skating, the area is still perfect for capturing those dazzling snaps and putting you in the festive mood. Pink Christmas Tree – Elan Café If you know me at all, you know how obsessed I am with pink so obviously I had to get photos with the gorgeous pink Christmas Tree that Elan have in their Knightsbridge branch.

Blogmas 2019 - Day Six: A Few Things I Love To Do Over The Christmas Period

There are so many different things to do at Christmas time, from visiting different festive markets to eating mince pies and watching your favourite Christmas films to decorating your home for the season (yes these are all things I love to do/want to do more of). For Blogmas Day Six, I thought I would share with you a few of the things I love to do over the Christmas period. Having a festive hot chocolate Coffee Shop dates with my girlfriend are one of my favourite things to do and it’s made even better when one or more of the coffee shops have a Christmas special hot chocolate that takes my fancy. This year it’s all about Costa’s hazelnut and praline hot chocolate for me and Jade’s festive drink of choice is the gingerbread latte from Costa – that even comes with a little gingerbread man! There’s just something about being all cosy during Christmas in a coffee shop and watching the world pass by whilst everywhere is all decorated for the season. Seeing the decorations arou

Blogmas 2019 Day Five - 'Last Christmas': Film Review

For me, all Christmas films should do one or more of the following: make you cry, make you laugh, make you feel cheesy and festive and make your heart burst. 2019’s new Christmas film – ‘Last Christmas’ – certainly does all of those things which is why, even though I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, it definitely makes for a good festive watch, in my opinion. Starring Emilia Clarke, Emma Thompson, Henry Golding and more, this festive flick centres around Wham! songs, giving a whole new meaning to the classic song ‘Last Christmas’. The story follows Kate, a young woman living in London and working in an all year-round Christmas shop. Bad luck seems to follow her, and nothing seems to be going right in her life. It’s safe to say she feels lost and alone and not knowing where she wants to go in life. Things take a turn when she meets Tom – whose positive, love for life attitude completely contradicts Kate’s. Finally, she feels like she’s found someone who she connects with and s

Blogmas 2019 Day Four - Five Stocking Filler Ideas From Shop Disney

Keeping in theme with yesterday’s gift guide, I thought I would share with you all five Shop Disney products that I think are perfect to fill out someone’s Christmas stocking – no matter their age! Mini Bean Bag Plush You can never go wrong with giving someone a plush. Okay, I’m not sure if that applies for everyone, but for me, I love plushes. No matter how big or small they are, they’re perfect for cuddling and they make the perfect collectibles for Disney fans. The mini plushes from Shop Disney are priced at £8.95 and are the perfect size to fit in a stocking. There are so many characters to choose from, such as Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Stitch, Olaf, Winnie the Pooh etc so I’m sure you’ll find something perfect for the recipient. Mad Beauty Items Mad Beauty’s products are currently reduced in price on Shop Disney and these items make the perfect stocking filler for anyone who has a combined love for Disney and various cosmetic products. They have a range of different ite

Blogmas 2019 Day Three - Four Disney Christmas Present Ideas

Image
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably thinking to yourself ‘we are now three days into December and I really need to sort out everyone’s Christmas presents’ and you’ve maybe broken into a nervous sweat because of how close the 25 th is, but it’s okay. I’ve got you covered. If you need to buy some presents/Secret Santa presents/stocking fillers for that Disney lover in your life – I’ve put together a list of four things you can get to please their Disney loving self. Movie Night In set – Primark Nothing is better in Winter than snuggling up on the sofa and binge watching your favourite films – whether that’s Disney ones or not. If you have someone in your life who loves Disney and having a movie marathon surrounded by snacks, then this is the perfect gift for them. The ‘Movie Night In’ set includes two tumblers with straws and two tall snack buckets (ideal for popcorn) and features Mickey and Minnie so is also ideal for a couple (genders don’t matter here). I bought this

Blogmas 2019 Day Two - Disney Christmas Home Decorations

Image
Today is the first Monday of December and I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really feeling the cold today. It’s been cold for a while but it’s as though it got to December and the weather decided to get even more bitterly cold and it’s the kind of weather where you literally just want to curl up in bed with a steaming mug of hot chocolate and watch nothing but Christmas films. For day two of Blogmas, I thought I would share with you some Disney pieces that we have around the flat for Christmas, because would it even be our household if we didn’t combine Disney into the festive celebrations?? Tree Ornaments One of my favourite parts of getting into the festive spirit is putting up our Christmas tree and decorating it. Over the past few years, we’ve accumulated a small collection of Disney ornaments to adorn our tree. Each year, we’ll buy a new decoration from Shop Disney’s collection as well as picking up one or two baubles or other type of ornament from the likes of Prim

Blogmas 2019 Day One - Five New Netflix Christmas Films I Want To Watch

Hello and welcome to Blogmas 2019! Can you believe it’s been a whole year already since I last did this?! Time really does fly. To kickstart this year’s Blogmas, I thought I would share with you just five new Netflix Original Christmas films I’ll be binge watching during the festive period. Netflix are notoriously famous for creating the cheesiest Christmas films and I love that. So obviously, I’ll be watching these – as well as the “classic” films – during the festivities. This list is going to be the new Christmas films that have come to Netflix this year but I’ll also most definitely be watching my favourites from previous years too. The Knight Before Christmas A Christmas film that stars Vanessa Hudgens? Nobody is surprised at this point – she’s making her place known in the Christmas films scene. Also, a Christmas movie involving a medieval Knight from England transported to modern day? A romantic comedy? Yeah, this is definitely going to be up my street of cheesy Chri
