Why You Need 'Grounded' By Rob Fowler and Sharon Sexton In Your Life

Whilst this global pandemic isn’t to be taken lightly – one shining example of how humanity comes together in times of crisis is through the power of community. The theatre community is one of the those I’m so thankful to be a part of – especially now. So many different people are keeping the spirits up in this big, crazy family through different livestreams, quizzes and various other content.

Rob Fowler and Sharon Sexton are two names you’re probably very familiar with. Either because you’re in the theatre community or because you’re a frequent reader of my blog/follow me on social media. Covid-19 has put a hold on live theatre which included the Mamma Mia tour where Fowler and Sexton were appearing respectively as Sam and Donna – blowing away audiences daily with their talent. Obviously because of circumstances, the pair have been quarantined – like many of us – for the past few weeks. Thus, ‘Grounded’ was born.

‘Grounded’ is an hour length concert filmed in the cottage that the dynamic duo are isolating in, and is packed full of original material, covers and aesthetics that will leave you feeling relaxed, at peace and connected with the world of theatre.

The pair spent the last few weeks recording, editing and putting together ‘Grounded’ and fans of the duo will be pleased to hear a variety of original favourites making appearances from songs such as the crowd pleasing ‘Delight’ to the ‘makes you want to get up and dance with a cocktail in hand’ esque song, ‘Je Ne Sais Quois’. I’ve said it before, and I’ll continue to say it – the lustrous vocals that Fowler and Sexton posses compliment each other perfectly and we can only thank the “Theatre Gods” for bringing them together and allowing them to bless our ears.

We were also fortunate enough to hear a handful of songs from the musical that Rob has written, ‘The Boy Next Door’ and in their commentary – the pair revealed that ‘The Boy Next Door’ in concert is in the works so I plead everyone to stay at home so we can stop the spread of coronavirus and get to experience this gem in full because from the few songs we did hear – I know that we are in for a treat.
I don’t want to give too much away as obviously this concert has just been released and I want you all to go in fresh and discover the beauty of Rob and Sharon’s vocals and lyrics for yourselves, but ‘Grounded’ provides you with the perfect blend of songs that will get you on your feet, songs that will have you reaching for the chocolate and songs that will have you swaying and thinking of your significant other.

Times are really hard right now and a lot of us are struggling with how to cope. Emotions are all over the place and we don’t really know how to feel or what to do with ourselves. ‘Grounded’ is the perfect thing to immerse yourself into for an hour of escapism into a world of strong vocals, strong emotions and a lot of laughs. As well as their super cute dog, Steinman who appears a good few times throughout the filmed concert. The way in which Fowler and Sexton’s voices blend together and Rob’s soothing guitar playing will have you forgetting about the troubles of the world around you and for just £10 – I urge you to treat yourself to this beautiful concert.

You can order ‘Grounded’ via paypal here and if you don’t have paypal, then email visionofyou2018@gmail.com with the subject ‘Grounded’ to discuss an alternate payment method.

You can also catch the pair doing an Instagram Takeover on London Theatre Direct’s Instagram on Wednesday.

Let me know your thoughts on ‘Grouned’. Stay safe and take care.
