Why I Love Disneyland Paris

As I’ve mentioned numerous times, I like to visit Disneyland Paris as much as I can throughout the year. I am planning on visiting the other Disney Parks (that’s something for a whole different post) but Disneyland Paris will always be home to me.

I love DLP for a whole array of reasons and one of them is most definitely how easy it is to get to my favourite place. Living in London means that it just takes me one tube journey to get to St Pancras to catch the Eurostar. We’ve even been lucky enough to get a direct train to Disney on occasion. Coupling this with staying offsite in the close by Ibis Budget (In Val D’Europe) and having Annual Passes, our visits to Disneyland Paris are more affordable – and leaves us with more money to spend in the shops!

From the moment I step off the train in Marne La Vallée and walk the short distance towards the magic; I’m instantly transported into the bubble of Disney. This is only heightened when I finally make it into the park for the first time on a trip and I’m walking down Main Street and the majestic and breath-taking castle comes into view. As the familiar music plays and I’m heading towards the castle; everything that I carry on my shoulders when at home seems to be lifted. It’s as though the magic has completely washed over me and the only things I’m left to worry about are queueing and ensuring we get our parade spots. Nothing beats that feeling you have when you’re in Disney; whether you’re meeting a character, watching a show or just walking around and taking everything in.

With the park being in France, I know a lot of people worry about the language barrier especially if your French knowledge doesn’t stretch very far. However, I have always found the Cast Members in Disneyland Paris to be incredibly helpful and communication has never been a problem. Not just from personal experience but from what I’ve seen and heard from others; the CMs will go above and beyond to make sure your Disney experience is truly unforgettable.
One of the things I enjoy the most during a trip to Disneyland Paris is walking through the different lands. From exploring the caves of Skull Rock to paying a visit to the terrifying dragon that resides in the dungeon under the castle; Disneyland Paris has lots to offer you in terms of hidden gems. Whether you want to walk around the beautiful Adventureland after sunset or take a step back in time to the far west of America in Frontierland – there is so much magic and so many secrets for one to discover.

Something that I’m a huge fan of and feel is hugely overlooked in Disneyland is Pineapple Whips. Differing from the Dole Whips (which I’m excited to one day try) in America, a Pineapple Whip is a combination of pineapple syrup and pineapple juice, topped with vanilla soft serve ice cream. The mix of these make for a deliciously sweet and refreshing treat – particularly when the temperatures are soaring. It is often said that Disneyland Paris is severely lacking in ‘Disney treats’ and whilst this is true; the Pineapple Whips are definitely something that I would recommend everyone should try when they visit DLP (providing you’re there in the warmer weather).

Obviously, all of the Disney Parks will offer you a magical and special trip and I’m excited to experience this for myself. However, Disneyland Paris was the first Disney Park I ever visited, and it will always feel like home to me. Above all else, I love Disneyland Paris for the special memories it has created for me. From character meets to food comas; every single memory made there has been meaningful, and I will always treasure them. They say home is where the heart is, and I most definitely left a big piece of my heart in DLP.

  1. This was a lovely account of what makes Disneyland Paris so special for you. I live in London too and agree that the Eurostar makes travelling to Paris so easy. It doesn't feel like you go out of the country!

  2. Lovely post! I wish DLP was more accessible from South Wales - I would definitely invest in an AP if it was. As it is, the travel to London adds an extra half day onto the journey. I would love to be able to visit DLP multiple times per year! I'm still considering investing in a DLP AP for my upcoming 30th ... but then there's all those Asian parks that I want to tick off too!

    1. I find that AP is a worthy investment even if you only ever go to DLP once. The discounts on food and shops etc make it worth it and you save money, in my opinion xx
