Blogmas Day Twelve - Why The 'Christopher Robin' DVD Should Be On Your Christmas List

This Monday marked the U.K release of Disney’s Live Action Winnie the Pooh film – Christopher Robin. The film took the cinema by storm during the summer and so for today’s Blogmas, I thought I would talk you through why this DVD needs to be on your Christmas list.

Reunited With The 100 Acre Wood Gang
Everyone I know grew up with a special place in their hearts for Winnie the Pooh and friends; some more than others (shout to my girlfriend whose style icon is definitely Pooh Bear himself). Winnie, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit and Owl are all back in this heart-warming family adventure as Pooh, along with the help of his friends and Madeline Robin, helps a grown up Christopher Robin to remember the good and fun side of life. These characters have always been so special to everyone that grew up with Milne’s stories and so having them brought to life once again on the big screen was special and now you can bring the gang home with you on DVD and join Pooh in a game of ‘Say What You See’.

The Casting
This family favourite film sees Ewan McGregor bringing to life the role of Christopher Robin. Being the title role of the film and being such a pivotal character; this was obviously a big role for McGregor to undertake, which he did seemingly effortlessly. In countless interviews, Ewan would mention how Pooh reminded him of his childhood, which I believe helped him when channelling the part of Christopher Robin. Hayley Atwell portrayed Evelyn Robin (Christopher’s wife) who was desperate to have the man she’d fallen in love with back whilst also trying to provide their daughter, Madeline, with the best childhood possible. Atwell portrayed Evelyn with grace and a humour that made you love her. Young Bronte Carmichael played Madeline and her portrayal definitely stole our hearts as she tried so hard to make her father happy and all she wanted was for him to play with her. Carmichael brought the innocence and want to discover to Madeline that made her such a lovable character. The casting for the Robin family was perfect; as was the casting for every other character. Naturally, the 100 Acre Wood gang got to play themselves so they were perfect too…

 The Importance of Family
What better time to remember the importance of family/loved ones than at Christmas Time? Though it may not be a Christmas based film, Christopher Robin is the perfect family film to watch at Christmas time as it emphasises the importance of remembering what matters the most to us; those we love, which is something that is highly important to remember during Christmas. Watch with your loved one(s), as you’re taken back on adventure of nostalgia, morality and fun with Christopher Robin, Pooh and the rest of the gang. This heartwarming tale of rediscovering the simple joys of life makes for perfect viewing at Christmas time as you reflect on the year passed and what you hope will come from 2019.

So – will the Christopher Robin DVD make it on your Christmas list? Or are you like me and have you already got it?
