Is Disney+ Worth The Subscription?

Disney+ has been out over a week now and it’s been a saviour for a lot of people, given the circumstances. The streaming service is packed full of content for everyone to enjoy, but the question on the minds of those on the fence – is it worth the money?

*as a side note, I know a lot of people are struggling with finances at the moment and this post isn’t meant to come across as insensitive – more of a review on Disney+ and whether people who are considering subscribing to the streaming service should do it or not.

In short, I do think that Disney+ is worth the investment. If your finances allow it, it’s especially worth subscribing to during this time as it certainly gives you a way of whiling away the hours whilst we’re safe at home. But why is Disney+ worth it, I hear you ask? Why should I spend that money on another streaming service? It’s completely valid to have questions and want to know more before you drop a lot of money on a Disney themed Netflix so I thought I’d share my thoughts with you on why I think the subscription is worth it.

The Originals
We all know that, as well as our old favourites, Disney+ also provides us with new and exciting content to sink our teeth into. All of these exciting original shows, documentaries and films are enough reason – for me, anyway – to have an account on Disney+. From documentaries such as ‘The Imagineering Story’ and ‘Disney Fairy Tale Weddings’ to Disney+ original films like the live action ‘Lady and the Tramp’ – there are so many new and exciting Disney gems that anyone can fall in love with. If you’re interested in the theme parks and the cast members, then there are Disney+ original documentaries for you to get lost in. One of my all-time favourite Disney+ originals is ‘The Mandalorian’ which is a new Star Wars show following a lone bounty hunter and – of course – The Child who is notably one of the best things to come out of Disney+. There is so much original material on the streaming service that can appeal to a whole variety of people.

Classic Favourites and Old Gems
As well as all of the new content that Disney+ has to offer, the service also offers heaps of old shows, films and shorts that most of us will have already watched in our childhood. There are so many things on there that will immediately take you back to being a kid and what better way to spend the time of self-isolation than binge watching ‘Lizzie McGuire’ or watching ‘The Cheetah Girls’ films. Disney+ allows you to take a journey to the past as you sink your teeth into the old favourites it has, and I guarantee that it’ll have something on offer for everyone to reminisce with and enjoy. It fully allows you to relive your childhood and to get lost into the magic that Disney provides.

Escapism
As I’ve mentioned before, one of my favourite things about Disney+ - especially currently – is the sense of escapism it gives you. I don’t need to tell any of you how hard life is at the moment and the fear of uncertainty lingers in the air. However, one of the advantages of a subscription to Disney+ is that it allows you to escape into a world of magic and forget about everything that’s going on around you. Documentaries such as ‘One Day at Disney’ and ‘The Imagineering Story’ give you the magic that the Disney Parks normally provide you with. All your favourite Disney films that the streaming service has to offer will allow you to escape with your favourite Princess or having some cheesy happiness with exclusive shows like ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’. There truly is something for everyone and it’s something your whole household can escape into together. Because even though the world is a scary place right now, there’s still magic to be found.

Have you got a Disney+ subscription? Let me know your favourite thing you’ve streamed!
