Ten Disney Songs To Help You Through Isolation

When times are hard, a lot of us like the escape that Disney presents us with. Whether that’s by going to one of the parks or watching one of the movies, Disney always provides the magic that we need. Obviously, going to the parks is out of the question during this world pandemic but there are still ways we can escape into the Disney magic from the comfort of our isolation. One of those ways includes listening to our favourite Disney songs. I’ve put together a list of ten songs that I think need to be on your Disney playlist to help you through quarantining/self-isolation.

*side note: these are in no particular order.

We’re All in This Together – High School Musical
Whilst this list is no order, I think this is perhaps one of the most important songs to help you through this period. For a lot of people, isolation is daunting and lonely. We may not physically be able to be together with our friends, colleagues, loved ones etc but nothing is truer than ‘We can make it, we’re all in this together’. It’s a scary time right now but it’s also so important to remember that we – as a world – are all in this together and we’ll get through by being there for one another and reminding each other that we’re not alone.

Some Things Never Change – Frozen II
It’s safe to say that a lot has changed recently and we’re all trying to adjust to new normals. However, it’s also important to remember the ‘certain certainties’ – the things that don’t change, even during times like now. The love between friends/significant others/families etc remains the same and these are the things we need to hold on to. The second number from Frozen II reminds us of that and, let’s face it, is a great song to sing along to.

When Will My Life Begin? – Tangled
We are definitely channelling our inner Rapunzel vibes right now…well, only lowkey because we haven’t been kidnapped and locked in towers. However, we are all isolating indoors and in the duration of one song, Rapunzel gives us a whole heap of ideas that we could be doing. However, if you’re like me, it’s just the perfect song to sing to whilst you think about all the things you could be doing… Regardless of how productive you are/aren’t, it’s definitely a relatable song whilst we wait for the pandemic to be over.

Under The Sea – The Little Mermaid
Sebastian says it best just before the song starts, ‘Ariel, the human world is a mess’. The human world is most definitely a mess right now so I think we could all use the escape that ‘Under The Sea’ provides by pretending we’re all mermaids and not having to worry about what’s going on in the human world around us.

Into The Unknown – Frozen II
Okay, I know I’m putting another song from Frozen II in here but it’s kind of fitting considering we are living in the times of the unknown. Everything around us is uncertain so this song is completely relatable. Mostly, though, it’s the perfect song to belt out whilst you’re isolated. Probably don’t sing it in the middle of the night though if you’re isolating with other people…

Un Poco Loco – Coco
Whilst isolation and not seeing your family and friends may be driving you poco loco, this song will definitely give you the distraction you need for a couple of minutes and is the perfect excuse to dance around your house and lose yourself in the beautiful lyrics and music Coco provides.

Hakuna Matata – The Lion King
We may have a lot of worries at the moment, but nothing helps you forget them for a while like the two simple words, ‘Hakuna Matata’. This one little phrase and one song is definitely a feel good song that has everyone, no matter their age or whether they’re a big Disney fan or not, screaming the lyrics at the top of their lungs and jumping around as though they have no worries… So, what song could be better for isolation?

Almost There – The Princess and the Frog
What better way to give you the assurance that we’re one day closer to getting back to normality than Tiana singing ‘Almost There’? Her inspiring words and strong attitude are exactly the burst of motivation we need, but that doesn’t mean that you have to be productive during this time. You can use Tiana’s ‘work hard’ attitude in the song as a reminder to work hard on doing whatever it takes to help get you through this time. Which obviously includes bopping around to ‘Almost There’.

You’ll Be in My Heart – Tarzan
Though you may not be able to dance around to this number, you can definitely sing along to it and it’s completely fitting for our current state of living. We’re apart from our loved ones and we don’t know when we’ll be able to see a lot of people again and once again, a Disney song perfectly captures the essence of how we’re feeling, ‘I may not be with you, But you got to hold on’. This song truly has the emotive side to our current situation as well as giving us an iconic song to sing along to.

For The First Time In Forever – Frozen

The final song on the list had to be this number because we will most likely be feeling like Anna post isolation. ‘There’ll be actual real live people. It’ll be totally strange.’ This lyric in particular stands out to me because once everything returns to normal and we’re back socialising with friends and family, it’ll definitely feel like a strange experience and not something we’re used to. Aside from that, this is another great song to walk around your home singing to… even if you don’t own nearly as many salad plates as Anna and Elsa do.

So, there you have ten Disney songs that I think should be on your playlist to help you get through self-isolation. Let me know what songs you would put on the playlist!
