Paris/DLP October 2019 - Trip Report: Day Two

After our busy day in Paris, it was a miracle we managed to wake up early but, low and behold, Jade and I were back in the magic for Extra Magic Time. By the time we managed to get there (thanks to the train taking forever to arrive), it was already quite busy, but we still managed to get on Big Thunder Mountain, Buzz Lightyears Laser Blast, take some photos and have breakfast. A combination of it being a Sunday and the unseasonably warm weather – the park was filling up quite quickly. We then went to the ticket office so we could buy Molly her one day two park entrance ticket, which when buying with an annual pass, you get for 45 euros. Side note: You can buy these tickets during Extra Magic Time but we didn’t know this then and it meant we were stuck in a long queue to buy the ticket and to get back in but it’s definitely worth noting that the ticket office is open during Extra Magic Time.
Before Molly got into the park, all three of us had been trying at 9.45am to get a slot to meet Jack Skellington on the Lineberty app. I have a lot of issues with the using of this app and my biggest problem is that I personally think it isn’t big enough to handle the capacity the Disneyland Paris brings in. For instance, it wouldn’t work for Molly as it said she was too far away, and the app just crashed when Jade tried. Thankfully, I was able to get a slot for the three of us, but it was a race against time to try and make it back into the park. Meeting Jack was as fun as ever and we talked about what Sally was up to and he said how much he liked my Halloween shirt and the badge that featured him on.

Okay, so I want to keep things real here. It was a really busy day because of the weather and even though we know Disney gets busy and we’ve dealt with busy days before – this one just felt different. The organisation of the day just seemed all over the place and little things kept going wrong. So, even in the happiest place on earth – bad things can still happen. But that’s part of life, right? So, we kept going and we made sure the day was good as possible, despite mishaps and anxiety trying to get the better of us.

After we met Jack, we headed over to meet Minnie in her Mariachi costume which is always a cute meet because who doesn’t love meeting this Queen? Especially during Halloween season. Considering we only had two days in the parks, we weren’t sure we’d be able to fit everything in so after this we went to watch Mickey’s Halloween Celebration. I love this cavalcade because it’s full of energy, good music and amazing visuals as well as lots of characters.

Following this, Jade and I headed over to meet Max and Molly went over to ride a few rides and met the Queen of Hearts. Max’s queue was quite short and went fairly quickly and we had a great time – especially as he was debuting a special Halloween costume. At this point, we were quite tired from the busy day we’d just had and the early start so we just milled around the busy park for a bit and sat down whilst we tried to think of what we could do. At this point, we decided to head over to the studios in the hopes it’d be a bit quieter and would be the relief we’d need.

Thankfully, the studios were indeed the welcome break we needed. As soon as we got there, Mary Poppins was coming out along with one of The Penguins. This instantly cheered us up and we were the second in line to meet her. That’s what I call Disney magic. After this, we headed over to Ratatouille (thank god for single rider queue) and then we did Flying Carpets Over Agrabah. Both were fun and helped relaxed us. Jade and I used the time after this to sit down and recharge for a bit whilst Molly went on the Studio Tram Tour – something we’ve done before.

All three of us headed back to Disneyland Park for some food and by this time, it was getting darker so we strolled through the park and it honestly looked more beautiful than normal with all the Halloween decorations and lights. We also went on Pirates of the Caribbean and Phantom Manor. By the time we’d completed all of this, it was time for Illuminations. Molly had never seen it before, so we left her to watch them whilst Jade and I headed into Disney village to do some shopping before all three of us headed back to the hotel.

So, all in all, it was quite a stressful day but hey – a stressful day in Disney is better than a stressful day at home. We still managed to meet plenty of characters, we got on some rides, did some shopping and got to soak up the magic. I just wanted to keep it real and let you all know that sometimes even in Disney we can all get stressed. But I’m not going to dwell on that. I’m just going to focus on the magical moments we had. Stay tuned for the final part of my trip report!
