We all know by now how much Disney means to me. As well as Disney being a big part of my life, I’m also a member of the LGBTQ+ community; something that I haven’t hesitated to be vocal about in recent years. As you can imagine, I feel strongly about the inclusion of LGBTQ+ characters within Disney. A big subject that’s been debated for quite some time now is whether or not Disney needs an LGBTQ+ Princess. So, does Disney need an LGBTQ+ Princess? Many people argue that just the inclusion of a character that’s LGBTQ+ is enough and that they don’t need to be the main character to be regarded as a Princess. This is true to a certain extent. Yes, any sort of representation – even if it’s not a main character, is important. Representation always matters no matter how big or small the role is. However, LGBTQ+ characters have had to face years upon years of being sidelined, erased or killed off; which is reflective of the way some people in society view those in the LGBTQ+ community. This month is LGBT History Month so to celebrate this, you can definitely expect some posts relating to LGBT issues from me this month. For today’s post, I thought I would combine this with my love for Disney and share with you five Disney songs that I personally think can make great LGBTQ+ anthems. ‘Let It Go’ – ‘Frozen’ In the case of ‘Frozen’, it’s not even just the song that can be representative of being LGBT, but Elsa’s journey of embracing who she is and learning that she doesn’t have to hide anymore can ring true to a lot of people on the journey of coming out. ‘Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know’ are lyrics that really resonate with me and take me back to before I’d come out. Before I get started with the review, lets get something out of the way: Yes, Busted are back. They have been for over three years now (so if you didn’t know this then I can only assume you’ve been living under a rock…) and in that space of time, they’ve been on two tours: one arena tour and one tour of lots of intimate venues. They played Glastonbury and took it by storm, and also released their 3 rd album: ‘Night Driver’. For a lot of 2018, the band spent time working hard (and battling bats) on bringing to life the album of everyone’s dreams – their fourth and latest album that dropped today: ‘Half Way There’. The excitement that came from the trio throughout the process of writing and recording this album has had fans hyped for countless months. The 3 rd January 2019 marked five years since I came out. My coming out story isn’t overly exciting; I updated my relationship status on Facebook to display mine and Jade’s relationship and put a bit of a statement out that basically said ‘this is who I am and you can remove yourself from my life if you don’t like it’, which is what a lot of people did. My coming out didn’t go down well with a lot of people, and honestly it still doesn’t. Some of these people aren’t really in my life anymore; some are. Though I may still have people in my life who don’t agree with who I am or “approve” of my relationship, I don’t let this affect the way I live my life. I’m still me and I will no longer hide that. We’re now in 2019 and though we have coined this year ‘20BiTeen’, we all know the world still has a lot of progress to make. Hey guys! So as you can see, I’ve given my blog a little bit of a makeover. The name stays the same but I’ve changed up the layout and added convenient tabs so you can easily find specific topics e.g. Disney, Blogmas, Reviews etc. Whilst I’ll still be blogging about Disney, I wanted to expand my blog to include other things that interest me – from reviewing music to sharing pieces that are close to my heart. Something I learnt from partaking in Blogmas last year was that I really enjoy writing about a variety of topics and seeing as my interests aren’t just Disney related – I figured I may as well incorporate that into my blogging life. I haven’t set myself any particular resolutions this year, but I know for a fact that I really want to work hard on my blog. Writing is my biggest passion and I want to boost my self confidence with my writing and I want to continue sharing it with the world. Hello everyone! I’m finally back after an unintentional hiatus I took from writing and from my blog. As soon as Blogmas ended (yay me for completing it), I ended up taking an unplanned break from blogging. In a way, it was good as it gave me time to brainstorm and come up with new and fresh ideas to present you all with. It’s hard to believe that we’re already nearly three weeks into 2019. I don’t know where the time went! I finally know when I’m returning to Disneyland Paris – 26 th -27 th February, which means I get to be in my favourite place for my birthday! So much will be happening when I’m there so I thought I would talk you through what I’m excited to fit into a jam packed couple of days. First of all let me start this post by saying MERRY CHRISTMAS! If you don’t celebrate then I hope your day is still full of joy. It can be a hard time of the year so whatever you’re doing - know that you’re not alone and please keep yourself safe. You matter. I can’t believe it’s the end of Blogmas. There were points I really didn’t think I’d be able to complete it. Admittedly I struggled a lot and perhaps that showed in my writing at points. However, I’m proud of myself because I kept going and I didn’t give up. Mostly because my girlfriend didn’t let me, haha! In seriousness though - I wouldn’t have been able to do Blogmas without her. Whether it was her not letting me give up, or when I bounced ideas off her or even when she’d inspire me with wonderful ideas!
