New Year, Same Me
Can I even do a ‘new year’ post when we’re ten days into 2020?
Sure I can; there’s no rules. Especially when the first week of the new year
saw me too poorly to do anything. It wasn’t the best start to the year, but I
intend on still working hard to make this a good year. There are a lot of exciting
things happening over the course of 2020 so I’m sure they will all keep me
motivated during the harder days.
Blogmas 2019…that was pretty much an epic failure on my
part. I only managed fifteen days of it and after that, I kind of just lost the
spark for it? I can’t even explain what happened there, but I’m trying not to
dwell on it too much. I still completed over half a months’ worth of posts for
it – so that’s still an achievement.
Before the end of last year, I saw a post about the ‘new
year, new me’ statement and how, actually, it’s quite damaging. What is so
inherently wrong with me that I should need to change at the beginning of each
new year? So, instead of going with that approach, I’ve decided that I’m
actually pretty okay as I am and instead of changing who I am – I’m going to
work harder, dream bigger and show myself the same love and kindness I want the
world to be filled with.
In terms of my blog, it will be staying the same. I’ll still
post reviews, Disney posts and LGTBQ+ topics. These are all things that are
close to my heart/are a part of who I am, so I want to see that reflected in my
writing. I’ve also always loved the idea of collaborating with another blogger
for a post so if you think that’s something you’d be interested in, please feel
free to contact me!
After the weekend, normal service will be resuming with my
blog and I will be aiming to get at least one post a week out there and any more
than is a bonus. I don’t want to put too much on myself and then get disappointed
if I can’t reach that goal.
Harry Styles has a song entitled ‘Treat People With Kindness’
and it’s a song that means a lot to me and I think that’s what the song of 2020
should be. We should all practice the art of treating people with kindness and
that includes ourselves. We deserve the same levels of kindness we’d show
others. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s definitely something I’m going to
work on as a personal goal.
So, 2020 will be filled with lots of adventures and hopefully
lots of opportunities. Let’s do this.
