5 Reasons Why DLP Should Bring Back Pirates and Princesses
This Spring, Disneyland Paris welcomed a brand new festival
to our beautiful home: Pirates and Princesses. There was a lot of speculation
surrounding what the festival would entail when it was first announced and Disney
fans eagerly awaited the start of the season. I was in Disneyland Paris Sunday
evening, Monday and Tuesday morning so I finally got to experience the hype
surrounding this festival. Sadly, this season is leaving us at the end of May
so I’m going to share with you 5 reasons why I think DLP should bring back this
spectacular festival in the future.
Make Your Choice
With memorable dance moves, dazzling costumes and an amazing
catchy song to boot – its no surprise that this Parade is definitely my top
reason for wanting the Pirates and Princesses season back. Choose your side as
Team Pirates and Team Princesses go head to head; showing off their dance
moves, all led by Jimmy Ocean and Betty Rose respectively. The Parade is packed
with vibrant colours and immersive-ness and I can guarantee that you’ll have
the song stuck in your head and that’ll you be doing the dance moves for days.
Betty Rose and Jimmy
Ocean –
For me, these two colourful, lively and loveable characters
are another big part of why I want the Pirates and Princesses season back. I
was lucky enough to catch Make Your Choice five times (not enough) during my
recent short trip and I only stood on the Pirates side for one of these times.
For that reason, I didn’t really get much of a connection with Jimmy Ocean but
that doesn’t mean to say that he didn’t do an amazing job of leading Team Pirates.
Being Team Princesses meant that I got to build a strong connection with Betty,
whose loving and fun personality soon had so many people (including me) proclaiming
themselves as members of ‘Team Betty’. Both Betty and Jimmy’s enthusiasm added
to the fun atmosphere of the Parade, and the festival in general.
Costumes –
There was a lot of controversy first surrounding the
costumes. People were divided on their opinions of them and many were left sceptical.
However, witnessing the festival in real life and seeing the beautiful costumes
made me fall in love with them. With it being Spring, the Park is currently in
full bloom, so the flowers that embody the costumes fit in well with the theming.
There’s only two costumes that still don’t sit right with me, but I won’t name
them… (It’s Snow White’s and Belle’s. No offence.)
Theming and Snacks –
As I mentioned, the Park is beautifully Spring themed with
gorgeous flowers and flower displays of various Disney characters and for me,
the Pirates and Princesses festival seemed to fit in perfectly with this theme.
Spring is all about colour and vibrancy and this festival is definitely packed
with both of these. It’s a known fact that Disney goers will go crazy for
themed snacks and I can confirm that I am one of these people. The Pirates and
Princesses cupcakes and ice-creams that are available during this season are
tasty and further add to bringing the festival more alive and getting guests
into the Teams spirit. However, I will say that these didn’t curb my craving
for more Disney themed snacks.
The Inclusion of
Elena of Avalor and Sofia the First
Though I haven’t watched either of these shows (I know, I’m
awful), it was amazing to see the inclusion of these two Princesses in the
celebrations. These are obviously very rare characters to have around so for
them to be represented through their own daily Parade was very refreshing and
pleasing for plenty of people.
As I mentioned, this festival is due to leave us in a few weeks
but I have everything crossed that we will have it back again at some point in
the near future. Don’t forget to let me know in the comments whether you’re
Team Pirates or Team Princesses…
